Scientology Daily Digest: Wednesday, December 11, 2013

Due to scheduling issues, there will be no Scientology Daily Digest for Tuesday, December 11.  Stay tuned for a double feature tomorrow.

Although Hubbard was a science fiction writer of a particular sort, and although this blog is focused on that which Hubbard spawned, I can’t promise that tomorrow’s post will qualify as a Science Fiction Double Feature. To which I say, “Damn it, Janet!”

I now have the image of Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick running around in the rain, on screen. Ah, fond memories of the midnight show! Thanks JP!

You just brought back so many memories of the midnight showing at the Nuart Theater that I once frequented. I still catch myself wanted to shout back “Slut!” after hearing parts of the soundtrack that mention “Janet” and “Asshole!” after lyrics with the word “Brad”. Those were fun times.

That movie is designed to be watched complete with throwing rice, toast, and squirting spray bottles during the rain scene. I loved that shit in my early 20s but then started falling asleep during the second hour, so I knew my midnight movie excursions were numbered.

I had The. Biggest. Crush. on Tim Curry! Starting in high school – for YEARS!
OMG was he ever HOTTT!!! **sigh**
Smartest thing they did in making that movie was to keep nearly all of the original stage cast. Also, Lou Adler refused to give up on it, seeing its potential to become a cult classic. That side of the story is fascinating in itself.
